About Us

Who We Are

The Rock Church has served the local South Bay Area for the past 42 years. We have existed to be a place of Hope for those that are searching for a personal relationship with the Lord. A refuge for the hurting. i   A home for the lost. We are Apostolic in Doctrine and Pentecostal in our Experience.

Our Mission

The Rock Church is a place where people come to experience the authentic, powerful, life-changing presence of God. Our amazing fellowship of people are passionate about knowing God and pouring out love so that others can participate in the hope that comes from the message of the Cross and from Jesus Christ, the risen Savior. We are a culture of redemptive grace that empowers us to live daily with that blessed hope of glory, which is in us! We believe in the original Apostles’ doctrine. We also believe that Matthew 28:19 is the mandate
to all believers which teaches us to disciple all men and women so that they will become passionate followers of Jesus Christ.

The Rock Church has been a Safe Place for Broken people in search of Hope & Grace in the Mountain View & Sunnyvale Communities. A Refuge for Real People with Real Problems.

What We Do As A Church...

  • Serve the local community.
  • Reach out to those that are in need of help and care.
  • Provide a place to “do life” with families in the local community. A village type feel in the busy Bay Area.
  • Host Weekly Teaching venues to strengthen ones faith.
  • Focus on strengthening the family unit.
  • Provide venues to engage the various demographics within a Bay Area Community Church.

Our Purpose

TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST

The Rock Church is a church established by Biblical truth and committed to making disciples. Our purpose  is to “make disciples” of Jesus Christ. We do this through prayer, the Word, personal involvement, and fellowship. We encourage every individual to passionately follow, serve and grow in Christ.

Core Beliefs

The Word
We are founded upon the belief that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:19)

God
We believe there is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4 ). He is the creator of heaven and earth, and of all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), as the Son (Savior), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit).

Baptism
We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sin.  Through baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38; Acts 4:12

The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues. Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6; Acts 10:44-46

Gifts of the Sprit
We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy; words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps and government. Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:16; 2 Corinthians 12:1-11

Our Beliefs

A brief overview of our essential doctrines

  • ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (See II Timothy 3:15-17.)

  • ABOUT GOD

There is one God, who has revealed Himself as Father; through His Son, in redemption; and as the Holy Spirit, by emanation. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16.)

  • ABOUT SIN & SALVATION

Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (See Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9.)

  • ABOUT THE GOSPEL

The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (resurrection). (See I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4.)

  • ABOUT CHRISTIAN LIVING

As Christians, we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)

  • ABOUT THE FUTURE

Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)
